Process: Washed
Tasting Notes: Red Kiwi, Cherry Cola & Green Melon
Producer: Rung'eto Farmers Co-operative
Karimakui is one of three wet mills run by the Rung'eto Farmers Co-operative, established in 1953 on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya alongside Kii and Kiangoi. Its 2,858 members are represented by seven elected officials, two drawn from each factory catchment. Kirinyaga County sits in ancient forested country that draws around 50 inches of rain a year, and the rivers running through it keep the volcanic soil loaded with nutrients, which is exactly why this pocket of Kenya turns out such fruit-forward coffee. Crisp and sweet in the cup, with red kiwi and cherry cola rounded out by green melon.
